by Carole P. Roman Illustrated by Sarah Wright
This is a very refreshing and new way to teach anyone about Colonial America. The author, Carole P. Roman tells all the necessary details in the second person, "if you were me you....."
Using second person personalizes the book to the child and they can see and feel, yes feel, what it would be like to have lived in Colonial America.

Not only that, but this book, gives you questions for you to ask the children to whom you read.  BUT  they are not questions to see if they are listening and get the facts. The questions are such that they cause the children (and reader/adults) to really think deeply of what it might be like to have lived in Colonial America, not as a whole but at particular events and occurances and cultural points. If you pause to REALLY think about the topic, you will feel what it is like to have lived back then.

And that is not all......Sarah Wright has written other books such as
If You Were Me and Lived In Ancient Greece which was included with the book on Colonial America, and that book is just as
breathtaking and inspiring and reflective as IF YOU WERE ME AND LIVED IN COLONIAL AMERICA.  Other books are about
Renaissance Italy and Elizabethan England. The books are written for 3--4th grade level, but has appeal to the grades closest on each side of the 3/4 grades.

Chelsire Inc. says:  Join Carole P. Roman and travel through time to visit the most interesting civilizations throughout history in the first four books of her new series. Learn what kind of food you might eat in Ancient Greece, the clothes you wore in 15th century Renaissance Italy, what your name could be in Elizabethan England, and what Colonial American children did for fun. If You Were Me and Lived in...does for history what her other award-winning series did for culture. So get on-board this time-travel machine and discover the world through the eyes of a young person just like you.

I received these books at a reduced cost in exchange for this honest review. You can get yours through the link below.
