This really is a "great grater" The grating surfaces are made of stainless steel and have six different textures for slicing, grading, fine grating, bulk grating. The frame is a wood-like plastic in the shape of an octagon. The grating/slicng surfaces are finely sharpened. I really like this grater. It has style, it has function, it adds warmth to the kitchen just by being in the kitchen.
