Did you ever stumble upon something you thought you didn't need and then find out how much you really did need it and it becomes your favorite most used tool!!! That is what happened to me with the Hori Hori Garden Knife.  I used to guess how deep to put my plants. This knife has measurements on it and takes that guessing away!!
The blade is sharp smooth on one side of the blade. The other edge is a jagged cutting edge that is great for those pithy thick stems like blackberry plants have. The blade is made of strong stainless steel. It can be cleaned easily.  The handle is about as long as the blade, about ten inches long and made of a fine wood.


The hori hori  knife comes in a thick leather pouch with sewn edges and a snap closure. After you clean the knife, slide it into the pouch. and store it with other garden tools.  It also comes with a wet stone for sharpening.  And in the box an added surprise, a small blade in its own case for cutting smaller, more delicate things!


Although I have only had this knife for a short time, it has become my favorite tool for its usfulness and measuring

I thought it was impossible. I have this window in the bathroom from ceiling to floor. Strange, I thought when I first saw it. but figured, "Oh I'll do something with it." Three years later, I'm still scurrying out of the tub, past that window. Who puts a window like that in a bath?

GENIE PEST CONTROL

ANTS, MICE, BUGS AND SPIDERS, OH MY!!

I am a science teacher and I deal with insects every year showing them to kids with the bravest of faces and talking about their habits like a narrator on NOVA.  Those are the exemplary species that I invite into my room. Truth is, I hate pests. Those that show up without warning. Those that make scritching sounds in the kitchen at night. Those that start in one corner and make their way to the space above my head. Those that have a trail of their family going across my woodwork heading for my sugar bowl. Those that munch my tomato plants and laugh in my ear as their buzz by


Just a couple of nights ago, I had a spider dance up my arm in the dark and proclaimed there is a difference between my hair being fan blown and a spider.  I have a mosquito net above my bed  and still they get to me. 

I got a Genie.  No, not the one from Alladdin, but the kind with a ultrasonic wave that pesters the pests and makes them take a different route, a route away from my house.  It is an inconspicuous mouse-like shape that you plug in. That's it. It takes a little while, 3 or 4 days for the Genie to take affect but it does and HOW!  I have not seen those dark black big creepies anywhere in my house.  There are no more crunched crackers in the kitchen followed by raison shaped poop.  Even the mosquitos are hanging themselves in the netting above my bed.
GET A GENIE!  You won't be sorry.  Say bye bye to bugs!

I was pregnant once. Actually I was pregnant twice!  Can it be 27 years ago!!! wow wow wow.  I have two beautiful,now handsome young sons. They are smart,  way smarter than I was at that age. But what I used it for was to hold up my bladder which is giving me those problems. I have been trying many things (like the new invention the presses your walls so you don't leak) along with the Maternity Belly Band.

I shared with them the reason I found the belly band and how I use them now to hold up my tummy  and tummy roll (I'm working so hard to loose that tire as it is part of the problem), so it does not rest on my bladder and cause major accidents. I guess there are devices out there for this purpose, but I am going to stick with Neo ProMedical because IT WORKS!! I still wear an adult diaper, but use less of them. I use the"impressing device" and that helps as well. When I hear all the legal commercials about "implanted mesh" and the problems it has caused (breaking up, growing into the flesh etc) I'll choose the reasonably priced belt every time.  You can wash this belt and you should. Getting two is a great idea so when one is in the wash, the other is one is there for wear.

This is probably the biggest innovation in watercolor painting since someone invented the paintbrush!! These pens have acrylic brushes posted upon a tube.  You put water in the tube. Dipping your water wet pen in the watercolor, you apply the paint and water to the paper where you are painting and thus apply the color to the paper as well. Ingenious.  \
I like the idea and it works well.  The water tube and small valves keep the water in until you squeeze it when you need it.  For children it is much easier to use these wetted pens than to have to dip in a water cup, which usually gets spilt, then dip in the watercolors which get so wet that they are fading before being put on the paper.

The  Skweez Pens come in a handy plastic carrying case.  There are 6 different tips and each has its own snap on cover. They are the regular size of a pen. The plastic that makes up the pen is soft enough for anyone's fingers to squeeze and get the water that is needed.

I like these pens as it allow you to paint without having to have a water source. You can fill them with water and take them along with your paints and paper. You have the same control, if not more control than a regular brush.

My son is going off to the University of California Berkeley.  After looking at the campus, it dawned on me how he was going to need a bike.  Nothing fancy, but one that would get him from one class to the other and to the dorm.  Then I realized no matter what kind of bike it is, he was going to need a lock. DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY LOCKS ARE OUT THERE???


I found this one it is a bike lock, attached to a 12 mm cable which is very hard to cut. The lock is a combination lock and can be set to whatever combo you want.  What is more, it has a light so after those late night courses he will be able to see the combination lock! It come with another brace that can be used to attach to the cable and attach to the bike and attach to a secure pole.

I love this lock and cable. It makes me feel very secure that he will have his bike and be able to lock it down wherever he goes.

This Mayri Dress is amazing. It is light, airy and makes me feel like a floating angel.  I got mine in a 3X and, well, I;m much bigger than that and it fit very very well.  The top of the dress is an elasticized, stretch pintuck which stretchs ALOT!

The dress was floor mop length which I hear is the length of the season.  It was okay for me, as I am presently in a wheelchair or in a scooter.  I stood for my picture (yay me, a new height in my therapy to be able to stand for a short period of time.)

I love the way this dress looks and feels and flows.  I just did not like it on me.  No problem with the dress, problem with my weight.grrrr.  I wore my burgandy scarf to cover my  more than ample upper arms.  I have ordered a scarf from Amazon the matches the peacock and palm pattern of the dress.  Of course that is leading to buying a pin or brooche to hold the wrap. I found some peacock earrings as well.

I take alot of pictures....NO I mean ALOT of pictures!  I bought a terra of off computer storage space and I have that nearly filled in the three years I have had it.  When I saw these usbflashdrives, they have become the answer to not having the finances right now to buy another terra of storage.  They are great for storage and they have a swivel hook on them which allows you to put it on your keychain or a hook by your computer.  They come in colors of black and blue. These are three amazing whisks. They are made of stainless steel, the wires as well as the handles with a hook for hanging.  They are light and easy to hold and whip eggs and whatever else needs whipping The balloon or top is formed with stainless steel wires which does not allow anything you whip to stick.  They are narrow in shape and this makes them suitable for narrow bowls.  


 I really like these whisks because the set makes them versatile for anything you need to whip, be it delicate foam for a Bruelle or light frosting for a cake or a meringe of middle weight. I also like them because they are easy to clean. If I rinse them right away, everything comes off easily.  If I let it dry on my whisk, it still washes clean because of the steel.  The steel wires make them bend resistent.  Given enough pressure, anything will bend, so be careful and don't store them in a drawer. I have waited for this!  I have a hub but it must be plugged into a computer. THIS hub can be plugged into a computer or into an electrical socket. Now I can plug all my devices into one hub, well until I go beyond 7 devices!! This hub has on and off switches so if you are not using a port, you can turn it off. An open port glows light blue. An unused hub or one that is off, is white. You can actually turn some devices on or off on the port.  I really like this hub because I have more control over my devices. I have one spot to keep them. I can turn them off when they are fully charged.
